"The Spierdijker Dancers" was founded in april 1976 and at this moment we have 37 members, includimg 4 muscicians.
The group got their name of the little village
Spierdijk, 10 km West of Hoorn and 40 km North of Amsterdam. The group dances in a traditonal West-Frisian costume of the better farmer's classes witch they
wore out during the Week and at Sundays church visit. In the period 1850 till 1920. The costumes are no more in use, but the tradition ik kept alive by several dancegroups in West-Friesland
to wore and show our beautifull costume and folklore.The programme includes waltzes, polka's and old farmers dances. We performe at markets, homes
for the sick and elderly, for clubs of senior citizens. The last years we performe many times on board of
river cruise ship for American tourists. The Spierdijker Dancers have performanced many times abroad over the years. And have been in America( Tennessee),
France, Germany, Japan, Poland, Portugal and Sweden. If you like to see something of our beautifull Folklore and Costumes in
